Parameter identification of wake-oscillator from wind tunnel data

This paper proposes a procedure for the parameter identification of Tamura’s wake-oscillator model. A multiple timescale analysis dimensionless model shows that response is governed by two groups D0 and D1, highlighting importance forcing terms in governing equations, total (aerodynamic structural) damping coefficient ? fluid Van der Pol oscillator. In particular, this approach provides simple closed form expression steady state amplitude structural displacement, which usually measured wind tunnel experiments. The proposed method consists fitting parameters adjusting closed-form VIV curve on experimental points. It developed into variants: least-square based some geometrical indicators (height, width, asymmetry). sufficiently versatile to estimate maximum lock-in range.
